Asheville Fly Fishing Company joins Costa Kick Plastic Guide Program
Asheville Fly Fishing Company
joins the effort to “Kick Plastic” in 2019.
As guides we go through so many water bottles. A well hydrated angler is a happy angler. One Full Day Float trip with two guests and one guide equates to 10-16 bottled waters, especially during summer months. AFFC used around 8000 in 2018 on guided fly fishing trips. While we do recycle, serve lunch on metal plates, participate in river clean-ups each year and donate $1000 to local environmental non-profits annually, we knew we could do better.
Starting this year
Asheville Fly Fishing Company’s guides
will carry cold water in stainless steel growlers
and have stainless steel 16oz. cups for our guests.
Our first 100 trips in 2019 will receive free AFFC stainless steel water bottles to take home.
Guests are encouraged to bring them back on their next trip or use mugs provided.
Clients who bring their own water bottles on trips will receive a free AFFC sticker.

Costa’s Commitment
Costa was #BornOnTheWater by a group of fishermen in 1983. Since then, we have supported causes that contribute to the preservation of our watery world. It’s part of our DNA. Lately we’ve seen an increasing amount of plastic pollution on our adventures. Plastic is not only clogging our landfills but is finding its way into our waterways and oceans at an unprecedented rate. Kick Plastic was launched by Costa to help reduce the amount of plastic we use as a company and to mobilize a movement. You can help.
